I can't remember the exact number, but the impedance on that is about 3.2 Mohm - so even without the Fishman, I should be set in that department.Ĭlick to expand. You are quite correct that one could plug the output of the pre-amp into the Lo-Z input of the Ashdown. I send it to a Fishman BII preamp (10Mohm input) and from there into the high impedance input on my Ashdown. So right now these are wired together into one output jack. I can't be certain, but I had *thought* that they were made by the same manufacturer - in any case, I suppose its possible that one has its positive lead connected to the shield of its wiring, and the other is reversed. I broke off the plastic casing and wound up with a rubber encapsulated element, threw some cork on one side to get a proper fit, and for 12 bucks I think it sounds pretty good on its own. They're not home made - maybe the term is "re-purposed" - The fingerboard pickup was sold as an acoustic guitar pickup, and the bridge was sold as a clip-on "tuning" pickup for acoustic instruments and horns. Another is mounted in my bass side bridge wing slot. What I've got going on is one piezo pickup mounted underneath my fingerboard, quite close to where the neck-join is, to pick up fingerboard slaps for country/rockabilly and general fingerboard noise for jazz. Oops - sorry, I'd thought I posted all the appropriate info in my first post for some reason. Yikes.ĭrurb: thanks for the info Re: the K&K and Underwood. Is it possible to wire them out of polarity Or should I try different placements first? For now I gotta kick this damn stomach flu.

This one might be my flu addled brain forgetting how to set up my rig.Īctually, I'm still trying to decide if it really sounds like it would be a phase problem, or if the clicky has a higher output somehow, that is simply overshadowing the bridge pickup. #3 - The usual frequencies that I normally cut to kill feedback in the rehearsal space no longer work. Item #1 - the volume has dropped Quite A Bit. Now, what my ears are hearing might be the result of a few different things. What I've actually got going on though, is a bass side bridge element hard wired with a fingerboard clicky. Some days, I wish I had a bit more of an electronics background when I start tooling around with this stuff.
